Gluon saturation and Feynman scaling in leading neutron production
In this paper we extend the color dipole formalism to the study of leading
neutron production in collisions at high energies
and estimate the related observables, which were measured at HERA and may be
analysed in future electron-proton () colliders. In particular, we
calculate the Feynman distribution of leading neutrons, which is
expressed in terms of the pion flux and the photon-pion total cross section. In
the color dipole formalism, the photon-pion cross section is described in terms
of the dipole-pion scattering amplitude, which contains information about the
QCD dynamics at high energies and gluon saturation effects. We consider
different models for the scattering amplitude, which have been used to describe
the inclusive and diffractive HERA data. Moreover, the model dependence of
our predictions with the description of the pion flux is analysed in detail. We
show that the recently released H1 leading neutron spectra can be reproduced
using the color dipole formalism and that these spectra could help us to
observe more clearly gluon saturation effects in future colliders.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
Tetraquark Production in Double Parton Scattering
We develop a model to study tetraquark production in hadronic collisions. We
focus on double parton scattering and formulate a version of the color
evaporation model for the production of the and of the
tetraquark, a state composed by the quarks. We find that
the production cross section grows rapidly with the collision energy
and make predictions for the forthcoming higher energy data of the LHC.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures. Corrections in the text and reference
Gluon saturation and the Froissart bound: a simple approach
At very high energies we expect that the hadronic cross sections satisfy the
Froissart bound, which is a well-established property of the strong
interactions. In this energy regime we also expect the formation of the Color
Glass Condensate, characterized by gluon saturation and a typical momentum
scale: the saturation scale . In this paper we show that if a saturation
window exists between the nonperturbative and perturbative regimes of Quantum
Chromodynamics (QCD), the total cross sections satisfy the Froissart bound.
Furthermore, we show that our approach allows us to describe the high energy
experimental data on total cross sections.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures. Includes additional figures, discussion and

Constraints on the duality relation from ACT cluster data
The cosmic distance-duality relation (CDDR), , where and and are, respectively, the
luminosity and the angular diameter distances, holds as long as the number of
photons is conserved and gravity is described by a metric theory. Testing such
hypotheses is, therefore, an important task for both cosmology and fundamental
physics. In this paper we use 91 measurements of the gas mass fraction of
galaxy clusters recently reported by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT)
survey along with type Ia supernovae observations of the Union2.1 compilation
to probe a possible deviation from the value . Although in agreement
with the standard hyphothesis, we find that this combination of data tends to
favor negative values of which might be associated with some physical
processes increasing the number of photons and modifying the above relation to

A note on the cylindrical collapse of counter-rotating dust
We find analytical solutions describing the collapse of an infinitely long
cylindrical shell of counter-rotating dust. We show that--for the classes of
solutions discussed herein--from regular initial data a curvature singularity
inevitably develops, and no apparent horizons form, thus in accord with the
spirit of the hoop conjecture.Comment: 8 pages, LaTeX, ijmpd macros (included), 1 eps figure; accepted for

No-horizon theorem for spacetimes with spacelike G1 isometry groups
We consider four-dimensional spacetimes which obey the
Einstein equations , and admit a global spacelike
isometry group. By means of dimensional reduction and local
analyis on the reduced (2+1) spacetime, we obtain a sufficient condition on
which guarantees that cannot contain apparent
horizons. Given any (3+1) spacetime with spacelike translational isometry, the
no-horizon condition can be readily tested without the need for dimensional
reduction. This provides thus a useful and encompassing apparent horizon test
for -symmetric spacetimes. We argue that this adds further evidence
towards the validity of the hoop conjecture, and signals possible violations of
strong cosmic censorship.Comment: 8 pages, LaTeX, uses IOP package; published in Class. Quantum Gra
A Systematic Review
BACKGROUND AND AIMS: There are increasing reports on case series on spontaneous isolated mesenteric artery dissection, that is, dissections of the superior mesenteric artery and celiac artery, mainly due to improved diagnostic capacity of high-resolution computed tomography angiography performed around the clock. A few case-control studies are now available, while randomized controlled trials are awaited. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The present systematic review based on 97 original studies offers a comprehensive overview on risk factors, management, conservative therapy, morphological modeling of dissection, and prognosis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Male gender, hypertension, and smoking are risk factors for isolated mesenteric artery dissection, while the frequency of diabetes mellitus is reported to be low. Large aortomesenteric angle has also been considered to be a factor for superior mesenteric artery dissection. The overwhelming majority of patients can be conservatively treated without the need of endovascular or open operations. Conservative therapy consists of blood pressure lowering therapy, analgesics, and initial bowel rest, whereas there is no support for antithrombotic agents. Complete remodeling of the dissection after conservative therapy was found in 43% at mid-term follow-up. One absolute indication for surgery and endovascular stenting of the superior mesenteric artery is development of peritonitis due to bowel infarction, which occurs in 2.1% of superior mesenteric artery dissections and none in celiac artery dissections. The most documented end-organ infarction in celiac artery dissections is splenic infarctions, which occurs in 11.2%, and is a condition that should be treated conservatively. The frequency of ruptured pseudoaneurysm in the superior mesenteric artery and celiac artery dissection is very rare, 0.4%, and none of these patients were in shock at presentation. Endovascular therapy with covered stents should be considered in these patients.publishersversionpublishe
Multilayer Complex Network Descriptors for Color-Texture Characterization
A new method based on complex networks is proposed for color-texture
analysis. The proposal consists on modeling the image as a multilayer complex
network where each color channel is a layer, and each pixel (in each color
channel) is represented as a network vertex. The network dynamic evolution is
accessed using a set of modeling parameters (radii and thresholds), and new
characterization techniques are introduced to capt information regarding within
and between color channel spatial interaction. An automatic and adaptive
approach for threshold selection is also proposed. We conduct classification
experiments on 5 well-known datasets: Vistex, Usptex, Outex13, CURet and MBT.
Results among various literature methods are compared, including deep
convolutional neural networks with pre-trained architectures. The proposed
method presented the highest overall performance over the 5 datasets, with 97.7
of mean accuracy against 97.0 achieved by the ResNet convolutional neural
network with 50 layers.Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures and 4 table
